A delegation of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), AJK Chapter, held a meeting with British High Commissioner Mark Lyall Grant here on Thursday.
The delegation comprising APHC Convenor Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl and Ishtiaq Hameed discussed at length the latest happenings in occupied Kashmir.
It stressed upon the restoration of all fundamental freedoms to the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
They also apprised the British High Commissioner that the Indian authorities have not allowed the APHC Chairman Syed Ali Gilani to travel for Haj.
The British envoy was urged to pressurise India for the withdrawal of the draconian laws like POTA, the release of Kashmiri prisoners and for bringing to an end the ongoing Indian state-terrorism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
All these measures are pre-requisites for creating a congenial atmosphere for the success of the agreed Indo-Pak dialogue, said the APHC convenor.
Mark Lyall Grant noted that the international community has welcomed the latest round of talks that India and Pakistan have decided to start, adding: "We wish it to be productive and meaningful and hope that both countries take care of the sentiments of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which are an important party to the dispute."
