Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (Site) limited has spent Rs 219.778 million during 2003 on development works all over the province.
This was disclosed in a presentation to provincial Minister for Labour, Transport, Industries and Commerce Muhammad Adil Siddiqui by managing director Site Gul Muhammad Rind here at his office on Thursday.
These development works include repair of 29 roads in Site Karachi, construction of footpath from Habib Bank to Post Office, fixing of 5000 cat-eyes on main avenues and building of pucca drains in the area.
All these development works were completed at cost of Rs 43.14 million, he said.
He informed the minister that further three roads on Site Super Highway had been repaired with a cost of Rs 1.80 million while four more roads with cost of Rs 160.598 million were being constructed.
About interior Sindh, Adil Siddiqui was informed that three roads had been repaired at Nooriabad while for water supply four tube-wells, a main water supply line, three underground pumps were provided and old fire tenders were reconditioned in the area. All these work completed at a cost of Rs 11.55 million.
Gul Muhammad Rind further informed the minister that at Site, Kotri one tractor with front-blade was provided and a turbine pump was also installed to increase water supply in the area.
Further an amount of Rs 1.00 million was spent on the repair of the roads at Site Hyderabad.
For Site Nawabshah one road had been repaired and streetlights have been fixed on the main road with cost of Rs 0.79 million, he added.
Gul Muhammad Rind further informed the minister that 1,156 plots had been allotted in Site Super Highway phase-II. Development of infrastructure was going on these plots, he added.
In Nooriabad, 5,000 acres of land was reserved for industrial estate. Out of which 3,342 acres were handed over to the Site Limited.
Correspondence regarding extension at Gano Takker was also going on while the plan for sewerage system, industrial treatment of waste water and recycling plant were the main future development programme being taken over on the directives of the labour minister.
Adil Siddiqui expressed his satisfaction over the programme and directed MD Site limited to make personal visit of industrial areas of interior Sindh and ascertain the requirements of industrialists there by meeting them.
