Sindh governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan on Thursday issued a directive for formulating a comprehensive action plan for low cost housing schemes in the province and residential facilities for government employees.
He issued the directive at a high-level meeting held at the Governor House, which was attended, among others, by Local Government Advisor Waseem Akhtar, Chief Secretary Dr Mutawakkal Kazi, Nazim Karachi Naimatullah Khan, Principal Secretary Akhtar Zamin.
The governor directed that at least 100 acres of land be earmarked in each district for providing residential facilities for government employees.
He also issued instructions to carry out planning along with timeframe for low cost housing schemes and cottage industries in every district.
BANK OFFERS: Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad emphasised the need for taking advantage of offers by banks for residential facilities.
He said that construction of housing scheme in Taisar Town should be started this week. He asked the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) to formulate the land use plan.
The governor told the chief secretary to work out an action plan based on essential steps in connection with and use after contacting the government organisations claiming ownership of land in Karachi.
He also called for immediately solving the issue of devolution in respect of Katchi abadis.
He said that Scheme-33 (Gulzar-e-Hijri), and such other residential schemes, which remained non-functional so far, be made functional along with the identification of causes.
The governor said that the impediments in the way of planned small industries schemes in Baldia, Landhi and Orangi Town be pinpointed for removal.
He directed all the authorities to submit him a report about implementation of the decisions taken on Thursday's meeting within a week.
