US technology stocks fell for a second day on Thursday, led down by Tellabs Inc and Lucent Technologies Inc after a brokerage report suggested shares of traditional telecom equipment makers are overvalued.
The Dow industrials were close to unchanged as investors absorbed a round of mixed corporate profit reports.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 1 point or 0.01 percent at 10,625. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 2 points, or 0.18 percent, at 1,146. The technology-focused Nasdaq Composite Index was down 14 points, or 0.64 percent, at 2,129.
