The roll-out ceremony of first Y-12 aircraft, overhauled at F-6 Rebuild Factory, Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra, was held on Saturday.
This was yet another milestone achieved by PAC towards self-reliance. Chief of Staff Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat was the chief guest on the occasion.
Managing Director Air Commodore Khalid Rajput handed over the aircraft on behalf of PAC Kamra to Air Vice Marshal Iftikhar A Gul, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Engineering) PAF.
Addressing the ceremony, the Air Chief Marshal said: "Laudable efforts of the Engineers and Technicians of F-6 Rebuild Factory are a source of great reassurance for all of us."
The feat of overhauling Y-12 aircraft is a singular distinction and contribution towards its achievement, he said.
PAC has consistently excelled, be it in the form of Rebuild of aircraft, Aero-Engines, Radar, or Factory-level repairs and manufacture of the various systems held on the inventory of Pakistan Air Force, the Air Chief added.
He also thanked the Chinese friends for their commitment and dedication in supporting F-6 Rebuild Factory to undertake this task, and also for certifying this factory to independently undertake subsequent overhauls of Y-12 aircraft.
F-6 Rebuild Factory, Kamra, initially started rebuilding of F-6 aircraft in 1981, has now emerged to be a rebuild factory being capable of rebuilding all types of Chinese aircraft, ensuring quality aviation and ISO standards.
F-6 Rebuild Factory is also undertaking overhauls of Sri Lankan aircraft through a commercial contract.
The successful completion of overhaul of Y-12 aircraft has enhanced indigenous capability of PAC that will save valuable foreign exchange.
