Commodore Saleem Ahmed Meenai of Pakistan Navy has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral, a notification issued by the Ministry of Defence said.
Rear Admiral Saleem Ahmed Meenai was commissioned on December 1, 1972, in the Operations Branch of Pakistan Navy.
He specialised in Communications in 1961 and qualified his Staff Course from Royal Naval Staff College, Greenwich, United Kingdom, in 1967.
He earned his Masters degree from National Defence College, Islamabad in 1999. To his credit is a brilliant Naval career, which includes successive commands of three Guided Missile Destroyers, Submarine Chaser and Fast Attack Craft.
He has had the distinction of having commanded all the operational squadrons of Pakistan Navy surface fleet as Commander 25th Destroyer Squadron, Commander Auxiliary/Mine Counter Measure Squadron and Commander 10th Patrol and Missile Craft Squadron.
He has also served in various important command and staff appointments such as Principal Staff Officer to Naval Chief and Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Operations) at Naval Headquarters, Islamabad.
On promotion to the present rank, Rear Admiral Saleem Ahmed Meenai has been appointed as Director General (Operations) at Port Qasim Authority.
