Rear Admiral Asad Qureshi on Monday took charge of Pakistan Navy Commander Karachi from Vice Admiral Irfan Ahmed at a simple and impressive change of command ceremony at PNS Bahadur.
On arrival, he was presented guard of honour by smartly dressed contingent of Pakistan Navy and thereafter introduced to officers of Commander Karachi Command.
Rear Admiral Asad Qureshi said that training occupied most prominent position and plays a significant role in meeting the challenges of latest warfare trends and techniques.
He said quality of training imparted in naval establishment is reflected in level of efficiency displayed on board fleet units. It is therefore imperative that officers and men we train are nothing but best in their respective fields, he added.
He said Navy is essentially a technical service, involving usage of hi-tech equipment.
He termed it crucial for every officer and sailor to keep abreast of latest technological development advancements to meet present-day requirements.
Outgoing Commander Karachi Vice Admiral Irfan Ahmed attributed his tenure to conducive teamwork, motivation and total devotion of officers and men to sacred cause of defending the motherland.
"Our contribution in operational field signifies our commitment with qualitative and invaluable input in overall battle worthiness of Pakistan Navy. This command will continue to take pride in undertaking these diversified roles", he stated.
He presented traditional scroll to new Commander Karachi as mark of handing over command. Later, Rear Admiral Qureshi laid floral wreath at Mazar-e-Quaid.
