Project of Korangi Road (Kala Pul to Hino Chowk) launched on 11th August last year has entered the last phase of construction while 3/4th of the project has been almost completed.
The project was launched by commander 494 on 11th August last year. The project was formulated to build this road since it has become worn out and was in a hopeless dilapidated condition.
This road was used for the heavy transport carrying goods from the industrial area of Korangi to upcountry.
Contract for the work was awarded to the most dependable construction organisation of the country viz Frontier Works Organisation (FWO).
This 6650 meter long road was estimated to cost Rs 117.256 million. However, D.G. FWO Major General Shahid Niaz by cutting corners in national interest accepted to complete the job for Rs 91.923 million only in one year ie by May 2004. However President Pervez Musharraf while visiting the project directed to complete the job by March 2004.
FWO has increased the width of the double road to 5 meters and provided 3 lanes on each side of the road which is being completed on international standard. Iron bars, footpaths, excellent drainage system and electrification have been provided and arrangements have also been made for bus lanes, bus stops, service roads and other facilities.
Completion of this modern 6650 meter long road will be another living tribute to the dedicated efforts of the FWO workers to nation building.-PR
