Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said on Friday that Pakistan strongly supports the idea of regional blocks in this era of globalisation.
Economic Co-operation Organisation (ECO) region has one of the best resources of the world and the countries of this region need more co-operation, understanding and flexibility to exploit these resources and use it for the benefit of its 300 million inhabitants.
The Prime Minister stated this, while talking to the finance ministers of the ECO that called on him here on Friday.
People of the ECO region share the same religion and have historical linkages of centuries old culture and civilisation, said Jamali.
He emphasised the need to further cement these relations by improving communication links such as roads and rail.
He mentioned Iran-Pakistan and Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan gas pipeline which, after completion, would bring economic prosperity for the entire region.
The Prime Minister underlined the need to share expertise in the fields of economic reforms, human resource development, banking, finances, information technology and power sectors.
