The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided that the revenue generated from the fruit and vegetable market through taxes would be spent on the development of the market.
It was decided in a high-level meeting between the fruit and vegetable market traders and CDA chairman Kamran Lashari here on Friday.
The traders showed complete dissatisfaction over the performance of authority's sanitation and DMA staff, which failed to address their genuine problems.
To resolve their complaints, the CDA chairman has established a committee under the chairmanship of director, municipal administration, Momin Agha to monitor all issues regarding the development and betterment of the market at Sector I-II.
Kamran Lashari assured the traders that the authority would help in addressing their concerns pertaining to cleanliness, encroachments and taxes on priority basis.
He asked the traders to co-operate with the concerned CDA directorates and pay their taxes in time. The CDA chairman also directed the committee to meet again after Eidul Azha to address their issues.
The meeting will also discus the construction of roads, improvement of sewerage system and installation of streetlights in the market.
He said that the CDA is responsible for the beautification and renovation of the city but without the co-operation of public and private sector, the authority could do nothing.
He also assured the delegation that strict action would be taken against inefficient officials of the authority.
Earlier, the traders of the market briefed the chairman about problems being faced by them. Senior officials of CDA and the traders of the market attended the meeting.
