The provincial Secretary of Health was directed to conduct surprise raids at the hospitals and health centres to check the attendance of the staff, after receiving various complaints against doctors and paramedical staff of being absent during working hours but are shown present in the attendance register.
The Chief Secretary Sindh, Dr Mutawakal Qazi issued these directives while taking serious notice of the said complaints.
Chief Secretary directed the health department to ensure presence of all staff including doctors and paramedics at the duties during the office timings at all hospitals, after receiving reports about them to be working at private clinics during the official timings.
The directives also warned that stern action should be taken against such persons and authorised secretary health to do so.
The complaints have also been received that the patients visiting government hospitals are advised by the agents of doctors to visit private clinics and laboratories for the treatment and the tests, Qazi added.
Such reports have been received especially about the Specialists at the government hospitals that despite being present at the duty do not attend the patients and are asked by their publiciser to visit their private clinics.
