Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) and Irrigation Departments of Punjab and NWFP, while taking a serious note over the reports that waster is being stolen through illegal pumps and pipes installed along the Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC), have decided not to release water in the canal even after the de-silting closure period.
Installation of the illegal pumps and pipes has resulted in scarcity of water besides affecting the service road along canal, according to a press release issued by Wapda here on Saturday.
Despite efforts by Wapda, the illegal activities could not be controlled. There would be no releases of water for CRBC till the removal of illegal pumps installed at Taunsa and D.G. Khan areas, the release adds.
Meanwhile, Wapda administration of CRBC has advised the people of tehsil Taunsa and D.G. Khan that all illegal pumps to be removed immediately along the main canal.
