The Pakistan's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr Maleeha Lodhi, left for New York on Sunday to attend a meeting of UN secretary-general Kofi Annan's Advisory Board on Disarmament matters from February 4 to 6.
The Advisory Board is a 20-member body comprising people from P-5, Asia, Latin America, Africa, and its basic job is to advise Kofi Annan on matters of disarmament, Maleeha told APP before her departure to New York.
All its members serve the Board in their personal capacity, and not as representatives of the respective government.
It meets twice a year. One of its meeting is held in February in New York, while the other meeting takes place in July in Geneva.
Maleeha, who has been serving the UN secretary-general's Advisory Board on Disarmament for the last three years, has recently been asked to continue serving it for another year in view of her expertise and contribution.
During her stay in New York, she along with other members of the Board will meet Kofi Annan.
