The Lahore Zoo has prepared special Eid programmes, including puppet shows, variety shows and entertainment programmes to attract children and visitors during Eid-ul-Azha holidays.
Lahore Zoological Gardens Director Mohammad Javed Raja told APP here on Sunday that wildlife guides have been deputed at various important points, especially near the tigers and bears cages to provide necessary information to visitors about the beasts and birds, their natural habitats and habits, average life span, food, etc, adding we have also made special fool-proof security arrangements at the premises for safety of visitors.
The cages of tigers, lions and monkeys are likely to be the centre of attraction for visitors, especially the kids who enjoy each and every action of these animals. Children may also look forward to a ride on Suzi, the popular elephant.
Javed Raja said a small area has also been earmarked for 'jumping huts' for the kids, adding the leaflets and stickers relating to the Lahore Zoo describing its history and the origin of its wildlife wealth would be given free of cost to visitors for their information.
Special additional ticket booths, four each for men and women, have also been established at both entry points of the Zoo to facilitate visitors.
He said the fool-proof arrangements have been made to plug any possibility of pilferage of revenue, while the staff have been directed to take care of the visitors, making their visit to the Zoo pleasant and enjoyable.
Responding to a query, Javed Raja said a Red Crescent ambulance equipped with the latest medical facilities will be available in the Zoo premises in case of any emergency to provide quick medical aid to visitors.
He said a contingent of reserve police and bomb disposal unit will carry out patrolling in and around the premises to avert any act of sabotage and pick-pocketing or eve-teasing.
Meanwhile, Punjab Wildlife and Parks Director General Mohammad Tariq Ayub visited the Zoo, and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made for the visitors, and hoped that the facility would receive a record number of visitors.
