A delegation from India's anti-communalism group, "Act Now for Harmony and Democracy" (ANFHAD) and Action Aid India arrived here on Sunday on a week-long tour to Pakistan as part of their peace and harmony mission. It will speak on Gujrat carnage, religious tolerance, and peace.
The delegation comprising Professor K N Panikkar, Saeed Mirza, Nandita Das, Harsh Mandar, Gauhar Raza, Shabnam Hashmi, Sandeep Chachara and Jerry Almeido.
During its stay in Pakistan, the members of the delegation will speak at different functions in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi aimed at creating communal harmony for peace.
Dr Fouzia Saeed, country director Action Aid Pakistan, has arranged an Eid Milan reception to meet the Indian delegation at her residence on Tuesday.
The delegation will leave for Karachi on Wednesday where they will meet peace activists, progressive writers and participate in various programmes.
Harsh Mandar, country director, Action Aid India, and the writer of a book "Cry my beloved country: reflections on the Gujrat Carnage" along with Shabnam Hashimi and Arif Hassan will take part in a discussion on "Human Rights and Religious Intolerance" to be hosted by I.A. Rahman of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.
The delegation will reach Lahore on February 6, where they will attend several functions.
Professor Panikkar and Harsh Mandar will deliver a joint lecture on peace and harmony in the context of communalism and human rights.
