A delegation of Pak-Turk Cag Education Foundation, headed by its Representative and Principal Dr Yousaf Cojak called on NWFP Governor Lieutenant General Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah (Retd) here at Governor's House on Saturday.
The delegation comprising Foundation Consultant Professor Dr Mirza Hakeem and Syed Afzal Shah highlighted the activities of the Foundation in Pakistan particularly its efforts to promote quality education and other welfare activities in NWFP.
The delegation also sought governor's co-operation to facilitate the Foundation's educational institutions; working in the provincial metropolis.
Talking to the delegation, the governor assured his full co-operation, saying we would welcome any effort from any side which aims at promoting quality education and would strive to facilitate all such efforts.
"Promotion of quality education in the province as well as in Fata is our prime objective", the governor said; adding we have doubled our efforts besides, declaring education is our top most priority to achieve the objectives.
The governor also described Pak-Turkish friendship as exemplary, saying: "Pakistan considers Turkey his closet friendly country because both are enjoying cordial relations in different fields as well as having common bonds of culture, religion and history.
Meanwhile, Naib Nazim City District Government, Dr Iqbal Khalil along with Programme In-harge HIV/AIDS, Health Department, Dr Javed, called on Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah and informed him of the proceedings of the international workshop on HIV/AIDS held at Kathmandu in Nepal recently.
He also presented a copy of the memorandum, adopted by the workshop. The governor on this occasion underlined the need for creating public awareness regarding AIDS, saying that being an non-curable disease, adoption of precautionary measures are more significant to meet the challenge.
He said since the number of AIDS patients in Pakistan are less as compared to other countries, the spread of the disease could be arrested by creating mass awareness about precautionary measures in this regard.
