Kotwali police have arrested three active leader of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal under section 16-MPO for making provocative speeches against government at the conclusion of a rally on Kashmir day, while further raids are to be continued for arrest of other four leaders.
The arrested leaders are; Sardar Zafar Hussain Advocate, President MMA Faisalabad District, Engineer Mohammed Azeem Randhawa, Ameer JI Faisalabad and Haji Abdul Karim, Chairman Action Committee of Protest Movement.
According to JI sources, the police started arrests after midnight, which was continued till morning. Mohammed Din former MPA and other four leaders of MMA nominated in the FIR.
MMA Faisalabad expressed grave concern over the arrests of MMA leaders in Punjab, especially in Faisalabad and announced to stage a protest demonstration at Chowk Clock Tower and a protest meeting at Jamia Masjid Kutchery Bazar, after Asar Prayer.
Addressing a press conference, MMA Sheikh Abdus Salam Fani, Acting president, Dr Javed Akhtar, Vice President MMA, Mehboob uz Zaman Butt, Deputy Secretary of MMA, Moulana Ubadullah, Mian Irfan Ahmad, Amjad Hussain Amjad, and Ghulam Abbas strongly demanded for immediate release of arrested MMA leaders.
They announced that if leaders will not released, they would be announced another line of action in protest meeting at Jamia Masjid Kutchery Bazar on Sunday.
They bitterly criticised the Musharraf regime for compromising with foreign masters and the solidarity with Kashmiris become a crime. They claimed that in Punjab more than 15 leaders had been arrested so far.
