Punjab government is formulating a policy for distribution of 98741 plots of land in Jinnah colonies of 18 districts of the province.
The plots remained undistributed in the past due to certain reasons, Punjab Colonies Department sources told APP here on Sunday.
The Jinnah colonies were established on the state lands to facilitate the shelter-less people without incurring any expenditures on purchase of the land.
The government will distribute 150,000 acres of land among land-less farmers in the province to help them sustain their own livelihood, sources said adding, each of the farmers would get 12.5 acres of land.
The farmers would be provided free of cost agricultural inputs like pesticides, seed and fertilisers etc for the first three years for enabling them to become self sufficient, under the programme.
To avoid misuse of the facility there would be ban on sale of the land for at least 10 years, sources added.
