Malaysian tin closed $50 up on Tuesday as the metal staged another strong performance overnight in London.
Spot tin on the Kuala Lumpur Tin Market (KLTM) rose to $6,560 a tonne from Monday's close of $6,510.
Volume rose to 80 tonnes, the highest so far this year, from 70 tonnes a day ago.
Tin on the London Metal Exchange rose $90 overnight to close at $6,550 a tonne.
Dealers said Japanese and local buyers initially mounted bids for 115 tonnes on the Kuala Lumpur Tin Market on Tuesday, against the 66 tonnes available for sale.
Sellers later upped their offer by another 14 tonnes, bringing the final volume to 80 tonnes. The premium for shipping a tonne of Malaysian tin to Europe, including freight and other costs, narrowed to $205 from Monday's level of $245, dealers said.
