Pillion riders without helmet and motorists without proper documents and fitness would not be allowed on road from February 17, in order to avoid the traffic violations and other problems, said Deputy Superintendent Traffic Malik Matloob Ahmed here on Wednesday.
He was briefing the media persons about a weeklong awareness campaign launched by the Rawalpindi Traffic police to create awareness about the traffic rules among people.
Malik Matloob said that the aim of launching campaign is to give people a proper know-how about the traffic rules and importance of the implementation of these traffic rules.
Deputy Superintendent said that this campaign was launched all over the district on the special instructions of the Superintendent of Police (SP) Traffic Sabir Ahmed.
He said that during the week police officials would display banners with slogans about traffic rules. "We will made special stress on the use of safety helmet for pillion riders in order to avoid deaths during accidents. Motorcyclists would also be informed about the hazards of the over speeding," Malik Matloob added.
Matloob said that for creating a better society it is necessary that all citizens should co-operate with police particularly when they are on roads, which could save them from various problems.
