Special Education Department Punjab organised a walk on Wednesday to express solidarity with special children.
The walk, which started from city zoo and culminated at Punjab Assembly building, was led by Minister for Special Education, Punjab Qudsia Lodhi.
Provincial ministers Imran Masood, Raza Ali Gilani, Makhdoom Ashfaq Ahmed, parliamentary secretaries, secretary special education Suhail Masood and a large number of special children besides people from different walks of life also participated.
Addressing on the occasion, the minister for special education said that the walk was aimed at creating awareness among the public about the problems of special children so that philanthropists and NGOs could come forward and play role in rehabilitation of this special segment of society.
She informed the participants that 4,100 special children were getting education in 49 government institutions.
The minister further said that the government has established a special education department in the province, adding it would give stipend of Rs 200 per month to each special child while the teaches will receive double salary package.
