Singapore bunker prices for fuel oil were steady to stronger on Thursday as healthy demand shielded the shipping fuel from weaker cargo prices and higher supplies, traders said.
Traders quoted 380-cst at $168/$170 a tonne, from $168/$169 a day ago. They said 180-cst was stronger at $175/$177, up $1-$2 from Wednesday.
One trader put inquiry levels at 5,000 to 10,000 tonnes while another dealer had requests of 10,000 to 15,000 tonnes.
But prices could come under pressure from rising supplies in Singapore, where stocks of residual fuels rose 505,000 barrels in the week ended February 11 to 10.012 million barrels, government data showed.
Marine gas oil stayed flat from Wednesday $284/$286 a tonne.
