The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) is going to organise a meter-testing demonstration in the presence of independent observers and others on Monday (February 16).
A KESC spokesman said on Friday, the power utility has invited independent experts and observers including journalists, professional electrical engineers from multinational companies, students of local universities, provincial ministers, MNAs and MPAs, councillors and businessmen to witness the testing demonstration of meters installed outside residential premises and business centres, to be held in various areas of the city.
The spokesman said: "Observers will monitor that the exercise is being carried out in total transparency to show electricity consumers that newly installed meters are correct," he added.
The meters to be checked will be randomly selected by independent observers on the spot.
The team of observers along with corporation's expert will leave from head office at around 10:30am to various residential, commercial and industrial venues for meter checking in the city.
"The exercise is being held to remove misconception created in public mind by the vested interest and to control power theft, which the corporation is determined to eliminate to improve the services and financial health of the utility and make it an efficient service provider for the people," the spokesman added.
