Traffic was diverted without prior notice from and towards the Clifton Bridge and also from the Ziauddin Road so that the road facing the Chief Minister House was kept clear of all traffic.
The traffic was also diverted from behind the Civil Lines Police Station to the Dawood Centre.
The diversions were made owing to the arrival of President General Pervez Musharraf at the Chief Minister House and Governor House, where he attended important meetings with the provincial parliamentary members.
The traffic jams that developed following the diversions caused by the VVIP traffic movement took more than two hours to clear.
Traffic jams have become a routine in Karachi as almost every day a protest rally or a demonstration can be seen in various parts of the city, particularly the area near the Governor House.
