Free medical and teaching facilities offered by the Punjab government to families of the industrial workers that have been proved helpful in redressing the menace of child labour in the province.
The government is committed to making the society free from this menace, Punjab Labour and Manpower Minister Syed Akhter Hussain Rizvi stated this while talking to APP here on Sunday.
He said the department spent Rs 40 million on providing educational stipends to children of the workers last year, and huge amount is also being spent during the current year.
He said the human resource boards comprising representatives of employers, employees, and women have been notified at every district of the province to protect interests of the workers, adding the boards have been assigned the task of improving relations between the employers and the employees.
Rizvi answering a query said the government income from the social security head has been reduced after launching the self-assessment scheme under the new industrial policy.
The fee is being collected under a slab system, strictly monitored by the representatives of the workers, and it has not been reduced, he clarified.
About 60 percent industrial employers have got registration of their industries under the policy, and many more are under the process of registration, he added.
Relationship between the employers and the employees have been improved after launching of the new industrial policy as the government has provided them an interference-free atmosphere to work, he said.
