Former foreign minister Gohar Ayub Khan on Monday said the regional as well as international atmosphere is conducive for the Indo-Pak talks.
"All what required is the proper handling of the situation by negotiating teams, people and the media," Gohar said while speaking in News Morning, a PTV programme.
There have been some good developments at regional level in Indo-Pak relations, particularly during the Saarc summit, he said.
"At international level, the United States is the main player in global politics of the contemporary world," he said, adding, "they are also willing to see a solution of Indo-Pak problems through negotiation."
To a question he said, the election in India would not affect the dialogue process between the two countries.
He advised the individuals belonging either to the ruling benches or the opposition to avoid issuing statements and remarks on the talks process saying it may prove harmful.
He said the concerned people from the Foreign Ministry should be left free to deal with the situation.
Gohar said: "The world history stands testimony to the fact that problems are finally resolved at the negotiating tables and not in the battlefields."
"It is therefore, imperative both for India and Pakistan to solve all their outstanding issues on the dialogue table so that they could focus on progress and prosperity of their people," he added.
