The Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS), General Mohammad Yusaf Khan, on Monday visited field firing ranges, Nowshera and witnessed the corps formations engaged in combat exercise.
On arrival at the firing ranges, the vice-chief of army staff was received by Corps Commander Lieutenant General Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai. He was given detailed briefing on the concept and conduct of the exercise.
Elements of armoured corps, infantry, artillery, aviation and other supporting arms of Pakistan Army as well as Pakistan Air Force participated in the combat exercise.
The exercise was aimed at practising the troops in launching corps offensive specially gauging the battle worthiness and across a formidable obstacle system, in real battlefield environment with live firing of various weapon systems.
General Mohammad Yusaf Khan appreciated the concept, skilful planning and conduct of the exercise and highly commended the tactical skills as well as firing standards of the troops.
Commending the combat preparedness of the formation, VCOAS said, "The importance of firing activity has rightfully been realised for firing remains the single most essential component of training. What is of utmost significance in today's combat exercise is its concept of combining the technical aspects of firing with the tactical. This blend has rendered the entire endeavour more meaningful and realistic."
