Automobile sector was ready to strengthen economic co-operation in addition to further cementing existing cordial relations between Pakistan and China.
This was stated by the President, Dong Feng Automobile Company Limited, China, Zhu-Fishou, while inaugurating 3-S show room of Dong Feng automobiles here on Monday. He said that assembly of two commercial vehicles of Dong Feng was started at the assembly line of Pakistan Automobile Company in October last and now its production was in full swing.
He said that Dong Feng had decided in view of the cordial relations between the two countries that new technology, introduced by Dong Feng in China, would be transferred to Pakistan immediately.
He also appreciated the co-operation of the Sindh Engineering Company, and said that the Chinese engineers and technicians would remain here to monitor the quality of the Dong Feng vehicles being assembled here in Pakistan.
The Chairman, Pakistani Automobile Company, Azhar Ali Jaffery, said that Dong Feng was ranked the fourth biggest automobile company of the world, which was poised to grab third position in 2004 only because of its technological skills.
He said that it had recently launched a joint venture with Nissan with an investment of two billion dollars and it would help it maintain highest standards of qualities in automobile sector.
He said that 50 percent of parts of Dong Feng vehicles were being prepared in Pakistan, while steps were being taken to assembly other vehicles also included army trucks.
