A spokesman for the directorate of food, Karachi region, has clarified that a news item which has appeared in a section of press, not Business Recorder, regarding restoration of wheat quota to 14 flour mills involved in hoarding is not correct.
He said that the deputy director food, Karachi region, had constituted a team including the vice chairman of Flour Mills Association, Karachi, to verify the working of flour mills and identify those who were involved in misuse/illegal trading of government wheat.
The teams after carrying out extensive verification had cleared 10 mills in category "A" being genuine grinder, 4 in category "B" for their partial dependence on government wheat and 8 were found non-grinder.
The spokesman said that such steps were taken for the first time to streamline working of the mills.
