In view of the recent outbreak of bird flu virus in South East Asian countries, the provincial health authorities in close co-ordination with Federal Ministry of Health has adopted wide range of measures to avert any possible incidence of the fatal disease in the country.
A spokesman for Sindh Health Department (development wing) in a press note here on Thursday said that strong co-ordination has been ensured among Health Food, Agriculture, Livestock, Industries and Commerce department at both federal and provincial levels to improve surveillance at and around poultry farms for detecting any probable case of bird flu.
The spokesman also strongly advised the general public that any suspected human cases must immediately be reported to the Epidemic Investigation Cell of National Institute of Health Islamabad on telephone numbers 92-51-9255117, 92-51-9255090-94, 92-51-9255099 or E-mail: edoffice@apolionetpk.
