Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Kaleem Saadat said on Friday that Pakistan Air Force would continue the mission of late Air Chief Mushaf Ali Mir by making the country's air defence stronger and impregnable.
"We have completed a number of projects initiated by the late Chief for bolstering Pakistan's air defence while work on the remaining is in progress," he said while talking to newsmen here on the occasion of the first death anniversary of the Kohat air crash.
Saadat especially referred to the JF-17 Fighter Aircraft project in this regard.
The first death anniversary of former Chief of Air Staff, Mushaf Ali Mir, his wife and 16 other officials of Pakistan Air Force was observed here on Friday with the pledge to continue the mission of the late Air Chief by making Pakistan's air defence invincible.
Mushaf along with his wife and 16 other PAF officials were killed when the plane they were in crashed near Kohat last year.
Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat, Chief of Air Staff laid floral wreaths on the graves of Air Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir and his wife at Mominpura graveyard here in the morning.
Other senior officials and relatives of the deceased were present on the occasion where prayers were offered for the departed souls.
Later, Chief of Air Staff Kaleem Saadat met with family members of the late Mushaf Ali Mir and expressed his sympathies.
Meanwhile, senior PAF officers laid floral wreaths at the graves of Air Vice Marshal Abdul Razzak at Wan Bachran (Mianwali), Air Vice Marshal Saleem A. Nawaz and Air Commodore Raja Rizwan at Islamabad, Air Commodore David Sabir and Wing Commander Tabassum Abbass at Chaklala (Rawalpindi).
Group Captain Aftab Cheema at Sargodha, Squadron Leader Ahmed Yousaf at Chiniot, Squadron Leader Mumtaz Kiani at Abbottabad.
Squadron Leader Abdur Rab at Karak, Corporal Technician Amjad Pervez at Jhelum, Senior Technician Mohammad Khan at Rawalpindi.
Senior Technician Ghazanfar at Gujrat, Corporal Technician Mohammad Fiyaz at Swabi, Corporal Technician Ashraf at Chakwal and Corporal Technician Khush Qadam at Gilgit.
Quran khawani for the deceased was held at all air bases of Pakistan Air Force and at Air Headquarters in Islamabad. All PAF personnel, families and friends of the Shuhada were present on the occasion.
Some institutions and places were also renamed after the Kohat crash martyrs.
