Secretary Population Welfare, Punjab, Khawaja M. Naeem, awarded certificates to over 15 doctors of the Greenstar Plus Clinic Network who were trained in providing Voluntary Surgical Contraception (VSC).
Addressing the ceremony, Khawaja Naeem said that 70 percent Pakistanis availing healthcare facilities from the private sector. Pakistan and particularly the under-privileged of this country benefit from the combined efforts of the government, the private sector and non-profit organisations.
Over the years, Greenstar has been a valued partner of the government in its efforts to provide quality family planning and family health products and services to low-income people throughout the country.
In an on-going effort to improve the quality of life of low-income, Greenstar Social Marketing (GSM) has been working in partnership with private sector health providers and had built the largest private sector family planning and reproductive health network in the world with over 13,000 providers, said Project In-charge Dr Zarina, while giving an overview of Greenstar's VSC programme.
She said that as a part of its commitment to provide a range of contraceptive choices, Greenstar started training lady doctors in providing voluntary surgical contraception services to their clients in 2001 through six clinics. The network is now operating in over 30 cities with 40 clinics, she added.
Dr Rehana Ahmed, Chief Executive GSM, Dr Kamran Mashadi General Manager Health Services of GSM also spoke on the occasion.
