The National University of Science and Technology (NUST) will participate in 15th Forum Engelberg in Lucerne, Engelberg, that will be held in Switzerland from February 29 to March 4.
The theme of the 2004 Forum Engelberg is "Importance of politics in the promotion of basic sciences."
The Forum Engelberg is a pioneering multi-science platform that dealt with and examined issues of global importance from an interdisciplinary standpoint.
Economics, politics, ethics, values and technology are common aspects of the forum conferences.
Kashif lqbal, a student of the NUST Institute of Information Technology (NIIT), has been selected to participate in the programme for young scientists of Engelberg Forum.
He will be participating in e-science programme and in the Grid and Young Scientists Programme at the forum.
His particular area of interest is the Grid technology and its impact on society.
The Forum Engelberg is designed to generate a future-oriented dialogue between the key players in politics, science and industry and to facilitate progress in e-science enabling technology.
The Forum aims to create a political platform to support scientific research, to demonstrate the influence of scientific research on economic growth, to show the effects of scientific research in conferences, to initiate discourse between prominent scientists, politicians, officials and industry leaders.
The forum also awards a one-year scholarship to the amount of CHF 50,000 to a young scientist selected from among the participants.
