In this regard Sindh Minister for Planning & Development, Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari and Adviser to the Chief Minister Sindh for Health, Noman Saigal laid the foundation stone of the project to be carried out under an extension work at a cost of Rs 196.792 million.
Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony, Shoaib Bukhari assured that the project will never face shortage of funds and hoped that concerned officers would perform their duties honestly.
"Sindh Government will provide limitless funds to you but corruption would not be tolerated," he warned.
The Minister said that he would examine the possibility of construction of a road from Qasba Colony to North Nazimabad,
He said that Government Monotechnic Institute Sector 7/C, Orangi Town and Government Girls Degree College Sector 11/E would start functioning from next academic session.
Speaking on the occasion, the Health Adviser, Noman Saigal observed that with the addition of Cardiac, Orthopaedic and Kidney Wards, the hospital would match Civil Hospital and JPMC facility-wise.
He directed the project officers and hospital staff to perform their duties honestly and devotedly. He said that corruption and carelessness would not be tolerated.
He said that extension work would be completed by February 2007.
The scheme was initiated by the Provincial Minister Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari to provide increased health facilities in thickly populated Orangi Town.
The scheme envisages construction of Orthopaedic, Cardiac and Kidney Wards besides General/Consultant OPDs, Nursing School/Hostel, Auditorium and Administration Block.
The Minister & Advisor praised and appreciated the performance of Sindh Government Qatar Hospital on completion of 27 projects on self-help basis.
Medical Superintendent Dr (Capt) Zafar Iqbal and Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Jamaluddin Shaikh complained about curtailment of funds by City District Government allocated for medicines from 9 to 3 million only.
The Minister and Advisor promised to meet their demand for transfer of hospital from City District Government to Provincial Government.
With the availability of these facilities, the poor people of Qrangi Town would not be required any more to rush to Civil Hospital, NICVD and JPMC in cases of emergencies.
