The Lahore High Court (LHC) reserved its verdict in several identical petitions filed against Land Based property tax system in the Punjab province.
The petitioners contended that the respondent government has introduced the new system without calling proposals from the public at large.
They said that the system in question is discriminatory and also against the interests of the general public.
The Law Officer contended before the court that the government is competent to delegate its power to any person or authority. He prayed to the court to dismiss the petitions for being not maintainable.
The court, after hearing both the sides at length, reserved its verdict.
