The Inspector General of Police Sindh, Syed Kamal Shah has directed the Capital City Police Officer, Syed Asad Ashraf Malik to ensure that police officers and personnel posted on security duties are well-versed of their responsibilities.
These directives were issued during a review meeting on security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Harram, and particularly for mourning gatherings, processions and other relevant programmes that were to be held on 8th, 9th and 10th Muharram.
Kamal Shah said all Town Police Officers (TPOs) must undertake patrolling in their jurisdiction in order to ensure that police officers and personnel remained alert at their posted points.
The city police have prepared a special security plan for mourning events from 8 to 10 Muharram, which is personally being supervised by CCPO Karachi.
According to the plan, police personnel of elite force, trained for anti-terrorism activities, would be posted at sensitive religious places and routes of processions.
The police have also designed a special plan to regulate traffic on the occasion of mourning processions to be taken out during 8 to 10 Muharram.
The traffic police have arranged alternate routes for these days, which are being made public.
The DIG Traffic, Mohammad Yameen Khan is supervising these arrangements.
The SSP Traffic Zones have also been directed for guidance of mourning processions, Tazias etc, they and other senior offices would patrol in their respective areas.
To further activate the control room established at CPO Karachi, Assistant Inspector General Operations, Sindh would monitor its working. Phone numbers of control room are 9213081 and 9213836.
