On 17th February, 2004, in hotel Regent Plaza, Karachi, Bazm-e-Takhleeq-Adab, Pakistan, in coordination with Mab, organized the launching ceremony of 'Soch Kinare', a collection of poetry by Jiza-ul-Ehsan Jiza, the only Urdu poetess of Africa, who had come from Nairobi, Kenya. Ahmed Hamdani presided over the function but he had to leave early for being unwell, so Sahar Ansari presided over the rest of the function.
The proceedings started with recitation from Holy Quran by Qari Hafiz Shoaib Ameer and a Naat by Shakeel Madni. Syed Meraj Jami, President, Bazm-e-Takhleeq-Adab, conducted the function and guest speakers included Sahar Ansari, S.M. Moin Qureshi, Shahida Hassan, Firasat Rizvi, and Ishrat Romani. Rais Bagi and Naseem Nazish recited their verses in recognition of Jiza's poetic capabilities.
Ishrat Romani, the first speaker said that Jiza's poetry is full of pathos, an awareness of being, and the hardships of life. He said that Jiza selected those aspects of life which are replete with varied experiences.
Dr. Nigar Sajjad Zaheer said that predictably Jiza would carve a place for herself in Urdu poetry and ensure continuity of creativity process rather than being static after one achievement.
Firasat Rizvi said that Jiza's tone is sophisticated as well as simple, which is the crown of good poetry.
S.M. Moin Qureshi, the known humorist, read out an article on Jiza's poetry in his typical humorous vein which was greatly enjoyed by all.
Sahar Ansari said that Jiza's poetry reflects a depth of understanding and social consciousness that has given strength and credibility to the works of other women in the field of literature. He said that reading her poetry was a very pleasant experience and extended his scongratulations. At the end Mohammad Ahmed Butt and Jami jointly presented a shield to Jiza-ul-Ehsan Jiza.
