China hopes that Pakistan would continue to play an active role at the level of Boao Economic Forum for Asia (BFA) for promoting regional economic co-operation.
We expect that Pakistan's participation at the next meeting of the forum, scheduled to take place at the Chinese City of Boao in Hainan province, said an official of the Boao Secretariat.
Talking to newsman in Beijing, he said, China appreciates Pakistan's support in strengthening the Boao Forum for sustainable development of Asia's economy.
The theme of the conference this year will be Asia searching for Win-win: an Asia opens to the outside world. It believes that the forum can help to create a win-win situation for economic development through closer co-operation.
According to the BFA's Secretary General Long Yongtu, the conference will provide a big opportunity for promoting exchange of views and interaction for achieving common objectives.
China hopes that the leaders of Asian nations will work together for developing a deeply integrated Asia as well as pushing for openness with the rest of the world.
The BFA's annual conference 2004 will be attended by around 1000 delegates including the government and the business leaders from Asia and other parts of the world.
China will encourage all countries in the region to maintain peace and stability by cultivating "a new security concept" that features mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality and co-operation, the sources added.
Delegates from 25 Asian countries including Pakistan endorsed a declaration, establishing the Boao Forum for Asia - a regional version of the World Economic Forum that held annually in Switzerland.
The President Pervez Musharraf specially visited China last November to attend the second annual meeting of Boao and called for promoting its role building an Asian consensus for regional development.
The Regional economic forum was launched at the first meeting held in 2002.
The Boao Forum is emerging as Asia's first non-governmental, non-profit organisation whose main purpose is to increase dialogue, co-ordination and co0operation among Asian countries.
It is intended to provide a venue for entrepreneurs and academics from industrial, commercial and academic circles to exchange views and develop mutual co-operation for economic development.
The organisers hoped that the Boao Forum for Asia would serve as a platform for Asian countries to promote regional co-operation and jointly explore solutions to common economic and social problems.
