A Canadian team met Syed Raza Ali Gillani Punjab Minister for Housing & Urban Development, and showed its keen interest in the housing sector of the province, apprising the minister about various modern techniques being implemented in the sector in Canada.
The eight member Canadian delegation comprised representatives of Dominion Habitat Ltd, Hashwani & Sons, and KirkLand Development International.
Senior officers of the Housing Department were also present on the occasion, according to a handout issued on Friday.
Gillani informed the delegation that the government was initiating various housing schemes for low-income groups.
He said housing schemes here should be designed and built in view of the environmental conditions of the country, and should be of international standard, with built-in resistance against earthquakes.
During the briefing on modern construction technology, the minister asked the delegation to construct two houses on trial basis at their own before by September.
If the houses met the established standards of durability and affordable price, they could be considered as models for the residential schemes.
