The retail price of dairy milk have been increased to Rs 25 per litre with effect from March 1, 2004, a spokesman of Dairy Farmers Association of Karachi announced here on Sunday.
Talking to APP, an official of the association said that the wholesale rate of milk has been set at Rs 22 per litre.
"During the past five years, the wholesale rate was Rs 20.50 and retail at Rs 23 per litre," the association official said.
He said that meetings were underway with the City District Government Karachi, (CDGK), for the past few weeks.
The official said that the farmers were very much depending on the city government to revise the prices of milk due to increase in the cost of input and fuel prices.
He claimed that despite a ruling of the Sindh High Court (SHC) that the prices of milk be reviewed on annual basis, the prices of milk were not revised during the past five years.
Meanwhile, no official of the CDGK was available for comments in this regard.
