Aurat Foundation Karachi Office in a meeting here on Sunday morning decided to hold camps at Karachi City Court and Malir Court premises for the assistance of women contenders for local government bye-elections scheduled for March 28.
The Foundation sources mentioning that since the last date for submission of application forms in the said polls has been announced to be March 4 the Foundation will organise the said camps at the two sites on March 3 and 4 consecutively.
According to them, the initiative is meant to provide proper guidance and assistance to the intending contenders adding that workers associated with Aurat Foundation will be present at the two camps and help women aspirants for the polls facing any problem in filling the forms or requiring relevant information.
With the very purpose and to mitigate any confusion among women with regard to their participation in the union council bye-elections, the Foundation also plans to hold training workshop for them.
It may be appropriate to mention that some 4,000 seats are reserved for women in union councils across the country and these are being filled through polls.
Aslam Brohi, programme officer of the Foundation, has appealed to all intending women contenders to contact the Foundation and be provided with proper guidance regarding the procedure, minimising chances of any rejection of their nomination papers.
