Corps Commander Lieutenant General Muhammad Akram on Sunday visited the Leiah and Muzaffargarh district to review the security arrangements for Ashura-i-Muharram. While a joint flag March was organised in Muzaffargarh by the Police and Army.
Corps Commander said," we are capable to meet the challenges of terrorists and we would not let anyone playing with the lives or properties of innocent people. We have further tightened the security following the suicidal attempt in Rawalpindi,"
Helicopters would also watch the movement of processions and would remain ready to help the army on ground and we have taken very quick action measures to avert any eventuality," Akram said.
Army was deployed in all sensitive areas particularly in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Leiah, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Chichawatni, Khanewal and Vehari.
Shia mourners either male or female would be searched before entering the site of Majalis-aza and they have been asked to co-operate with law enforcing agencies in maintaining peace and tranquillity.
