British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw arrived here on a two-day visit for talks with Pakistani leaders on wide-ranging issues including bilateral relations, regional and global issues, counter-terrorism and nuclear non-proliferation.
Straw will hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid Kasuri and will also call on President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali.
Jack Straw was received at the Chaklala Air Base by a senior official of the foreign ministry and the UK High Commissioner to Pakistan, Mark Lyall Grant.
The British High Commissioner told APP that the visit of the British Foreign Minister is to show support for President Musharraf for what he is doing on the range of issues.
He said the two countries enjoy excellent ties and strong trade and commercial relations.
Straw is scheduled to visit Peshawar where he would deliver a lecture on "Engaging Islam" at the Peshawar University. He will also visit a madressa and meet the NWFP governor.
