Federal Minister for Industries and Production Liaquat Jatoi has said that country is now on the path of economic and industrial growth which will help in eradication of unemployment, poverty and illiteracy.
He was addressing a public meeting in Rawalpindi on Sunday. Besides Liaquat Jatoi the meeting was addressed by Senator Shahzad Wasim, Provincial Minister Mushtaq Kiani, acting District Nazim Raja Javed Akhlas, Tehsil Nazim Hamid Nawaz.
At the time of military take over in 1999, the country had only 300 million dollars as reserves, Jatoi said and added that Pakistan was about to default. He said that as a result of the prudent economic policies of General Pervez Musharraf country came out of the crisis.
"We are now at a position of economic stability. We have foreign exchange reserves of more than 12.5 billion dollars, which is indication of the stability of economy", he added.
He said that people who are criticising present government and are making hue and cry are facing frustration. "Their frustration is due to their deprivation of looting national exchequer and now they would never be allowed to do so", he added.
Reposing his confidence on General Musharraf, he said that President Musharraf came as a masiah for people of Pakistan who lead country towards the path of economic stability. "We are now at a juncture of the baring fruit of these reforms and people will very soon feel change in every sector", he added.
Jatoi said that the love and affection given by people of Rawalpindi will remain alive in his heart forever.
