Partly Facetious: they say Poodle is an honest man!

"Did you hear Poodle's speech defending his decision to go to war in Iraq yet again?"
Published March 9, 2004

"Did you hear Poodle's speech defending his decision to go to war in Iraq yet again?"
"Yes, I did. It was quite a passionate appeal and.."
"And it missed out a lot of facts, right? For example Saddam's offer to hold elections in Iraq for a possible regime change and to allow American inspectors in to check on the non-existent weapons of mass destruction."
"They say Poodle is an honest man! Maybe Bush never told him about this - you know need to know basis."
"It came in the Press.."
"He also said he believes in Bush's foreign policy or shall we say the neo-conservative policy agenda: interfere where there is no democracy and then bring in Western values, which are good incidentally, and replace the eastern values which are not."
"Yep, that was rather funny. I always thought the East knew better how to take care of the old and the sick, I mean we don't need old peoples homes and all, right."
"Yeah, but he also said that he understood those who disagreed with him."
"But the forum he chose to deliver this rather long and boring and repetitive speech was interesting."
"Why? He was addressing the businessmen in his own constituency."
"Who were so bored and gave only lacklustre applause at the end."
"Yes but then there were no awkward questions - people were bored but kept quiet and on top of it all it got live coverage on BBC and much more importantly for Poodle on CNN."
"Yep, can't beat that type of publicity. Meanwhile, his extremely colourless Foreign Secretary was here and was talking nuclear proliferation. And.."
"But Poodle also said in his speech that he knew about Qadeer Khan and.."
"Didn't say a word against Pakistan though."
"No, I believe the speech went to the White House for clearance."
"Anyway I still think Straw should have been ejected from this country. I mean even the Turks refused to allow British soldiers on their soil - they were ready to do business with Bush but not with Poodle or his minions."
"I think we really should follow the Turkish model. Let's invite Dominique de Villepin - the French foreign minister."
"There is the matter of the head scarves."
"Hey, I'd rather no scarves than an outright attack. Get your priorities right."
