Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Wednesday urged the Islamic countries to make conscious efforts to improve their scientific, educational and technological standards.
He was talking to the Chief of Staff of the Bahrain Defence Forces, Major General Shaikh Rashid Bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa who called on him at the PM Secretariat.
He referred to the idea of enlightened moderation by President Musharraf and said that the Islamic world will have to work hard on the fronts of media and economy.
The Prime Minister said that without being economically strong no nation can carve out for itself a place of honour in a competitive world.
Similarly, on the media front, the Muslim world will have to work collectively for portraying itself as enlightened, moderate and peaceful people, capable of contributing effectively towards the overall betterment of mankind.
Prime Minister Jamali said that there was a need to clear the misperceptions prevailing in the world about Islam and the Muslims as a whole. This could only be achieved if the Muslims excel in science, education and economy and all facilities are provided for scientific research.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan has had the best of relations with Bahrain. He said that Pakistan is a peace-loving country and is desirous of improving its relations with all countries including its neighbours.
He said that the process of dialogue with India has been initiated and hoped that all outstanding issues between the two countries will be resolved peacefully.
"We want to live in peace and concentrate our energies and resources for the socio-economic uplift of our people," he added.
The Bahraini delegation appreciated Pakistan's initiative for peace. The Ambassador of Bahrain to Pakistan was also present.
