Eleven candidates, including one Nazim of major group were elected unopposed in by-elections on different seats of local bodies in four tehsils of Attock district.
No candidate has filed nomination papers for 39 vacant slots in the remaining union councils till the closing hours.
Sources of at the Election Commission office said the elected unopposed representatives are: Syed Zahir Shah as Nazim, Union Council, Malakmala supported by camp of Zila Nazim Major Tahir Sadiq (Retd), Mukhtuma Jan and Zaforu Bibi, women councillors for UC, Formuli and Ms Marth on minority seat in UC, Suragsalar.
In Tehsil Hassanabadal, Waris Khan and Khatoon Bibi won on the seats of peasant and general seats respectively in UC, Burhan. In Tehsil Jand, Mughala Bibi won on peasant worker (women) for UC, Turab, Kaleem Gul on Muslim women seat in Chhab UC, Kauser Perveen in Langar UC and Razzaq Maseeh on minority seat in UC Thatta. Razia Begum on the peasant seat in UC Mianwala, Tehsil Pindigheb as well. While, candidates of Tehsil Fatehjang will contest as per the election schedule.
Sources further told that 47 applicants including three Nazims, general councillors (men) 13, general councillors (women) 15, peasant, labour (men) 12, peasant (women) 1, minority 3 have filed nomination papers with the respective returning officers in 19 union councils.
The scrutiny of the nominations will be conducted on March 11-12, which will be disposed of till March 15 accordingly.
