All in a day's work! - Chopping and rejecting.....!

What do u think of the changing landscape of the Capital?
Published March 13, 2004

What do u think of the changing landscape of the Capital?
Landscape change or the change in trees?
Oh! Come on!
I was referring to the cutting of mulberry trees.
I thought u were referring to the plantation of 15-year old date trees, none of which is showing any sign of adaptability to the atmosphere of Islamabad.
My dear the date trees give religious touch to the capital of Islami Jamhooria.
I have read that National Assembly was informed that Rs 1.7 million was earned through auction of chopped mulberry trees.
Great!
Has any body asked how much is required in time and money to replace those chopped down trees?
U r difficult people! Earlier everyone was complaining about the pollen allergies leading to acute respiratory and asthmatic problem.
Ya, it was a major complaint since the people moved to Islamabad. Had they planted trees in 1980, they could have justified chopping mulberry trees without altering the green belts and landscape.
It was a common secret that chopping of trees is related to security reasons as the pollen allergies are not only related to the pollen of mulberry.
No my dear the problem does not relate to mulberry, it's associated with 'American mulberry".
Oh!
U mean the American mulberry! Being chopped?
Am scared!
Anything related to Big Boss's nation being chopped?
Let's talk about something else.
Do u know the Australian wheat was re-examined?
No, what's the outcome?
Rejected again!
Really?
Ya, the Australians r not happy, alleged that Pak labs do not posses the requisite testing facilities and floated third part testing idea!
Great!
But Pakistan has ruled out the "independent analysis" in some other country.
Very brave of them!
The Ministry of Agriculture said there is no provision for such a test in the agreement and also stated that the lab where Australian wheat was tested, has state of the art facilities.
Really?
Ya,
Do u know that this was the first time any food import was tested?
No, but am happy that we thought of it. Escaped from eating contaminated wheat along with foreign insects.
U know, our stomachs are used to our own breed of insects but am not sure of foreign elements.
By the way how were they testing imported wheat prior to the establishment of requisite facilities at National Agriculture Research Centre (NARC )under presidential orders?
Imported wheat were checked by picking up a handful of grains and subjecting the material to personal scrutiny.
Great!
May be the Australians were not aware of the latest facilities Pakistan has acquired and were banking on the personnel scrutiny?
But I have read it contains sand and insects besides containing bunt fungus noticeable to naked eye. Poor insects, they have traveled so far and must be feeling stranded in foreign environment.
Let's wait for the animal activists raising their concerns for the Australian insects wheat contain. They must be separated from the wheat contaminated with the fungus.
Are u joking?
Don't worry the animal rights activists must be having their insect wing and will soon be voicing their concerns for the Australian Insects.
