Riaz Ahmed Tata, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), has proposed that the scope of products allowed for import from India should be enhanced for mutual benefit.
Expressing immense satisfaction at the successful conclusion of Pakistan's single-country exhibition, 'Made in Pakistan', organised by FPCCI in Delhi from March 2-11, 2004, he said that a total of 64 Pakistani entrepreneurs had set up stalls at the exhibition, displaying products ranging from textiles, leather, automobiles, spices, furniture, onyx and soft drinks.
In addition to Pakistan Exhibitors, 168 Pakistani business delegates also visited Delhi to attend the Seminar on Indo-Pak relations and to hold business meetings with Indian entrepreneurs.
All items exhibited were extremely popular with the large number of Indian visitors who visited the exhibition and appreciated the quality and competitive prices of products.
Tata re-affirmed his earlier public statements that there was great scope for rapidly increasing bilateral trade between India and Pakistan, provided facilitating policies, operating environment and improved means of transportation were allowed for easy and rapid movement of goods and people between the two countries.
He greatly appreciated the untiring efforts of Maqbool Ahmed, Vice-President of FPCCI and leader of the Pakistani delegation to India, Jamil Mehboob Magoon, Vice-President, Saarc and chief co-ordinator of the delegation, and Amin Khatri, Chairman of FPCCI Standing Committee on Fairs and Exhibitions, for making the 'Made in Pakistan' exhibition and Seminar on Indo-Pak relations in Delhi a great success.
The FPCCI chief also thanked Y K Modi, President of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and Dr Amit Mitra, Secretary General, FICCI, for their invaluable support and co-operation in organising and successful management of the 'Made in Pakistan' exhibition and the seminar.
