Sudden change in weather conditions has caused surge in cases of fever, cough, skin allergy, liver problem including Hepatitis, and eye infection.
A large number of people who were facing with the problems of eye infection, skin allergy, fever, abdominal disease and other related complications are approaching different city hospitals as well as private clinics.
According to medical experts, the root cause of sudden surge in these diseases is hot weather conditions, use of polluted drinking water and spread of flies and malaria.
A senior physician in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital told Business Recorder here on Friday that people with complaints of pain in abdominal, backache and headache problems are approaching the hospital daily in a large number.
She advised the people to avoid self-medication and consult medical practitioner for proper medical treatment, if they face any health problem.
She also asked them to use boiled water and properly cooked food items and abstain from using cold or unhygienic food items. She urged the government to formulate an integrated and comprehensive plan to overcome the disease of Hepatitis, which is on the rise with an alarming magnitude.
According to her, Hepatitis was a major public health problem and about one-million chronically infected persons die each year due to Hepatitis-B infection and its complications while Hepatitis-C virus infects 3-4 million persons each year.
She also asked the government to encourage local manufacturers of anti-hepatitis medicines so that hepatitis related medicines could be accessible to the common man. She also advised philanthropists and NGOs to come forward and join hands with the government to play their due role to eliminate this fatal disease.
Answering a question, she said that Hepatitis weakens the immune system of body which eliminates power of resistance against various diseases.
Meanwhile, people of the provincial metropolis are complaining about spread of malaria due to growth of mosquitos.
